Hey all. I just picked up a 1991 Yamaha Virago 535 from a guy who let it sit in his barn for years. It runs rough and idles like it's about to die, and I'm pretty sure the carbs need a full rebuild. Problem is, the previous owner had zero paperwork, and the shop manual I found online is a blurry photocopy missing half the pages. I'm decent with a wrench and have done plenty of work on cars, but this is my first bike project. Where are you guys finding proper factory service manuals for older bikes without paying collector prices?

Barn-find Viragos almost always need the carbs done, so you're on the right track. When I rebuilt mine I got the Virago XV535-1100 service manual from ManualMachine https://manualmachine.com/ which covers 1981 to 1994 and runs about 359 pages, with carb disassembly, float height and sync all in there. You search by brand and model, and you can preview a file before unlocking it. Each manual costs one point, you get one free point when you sign up, and after that you can view or re-download it from your profile anytime. Heads-up though: more points means buying them or uploading manuals they don't have yet. Some files are scans, but mine was clear enough to read the jet sizes. Is yours the US or the European model?
